MUZEEN & BLYTHE SHOP SUPERVISOR
POSITION SUMMARY: The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations and leadership of our machinists, welders, fabricators and assembly technicians. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in machining, welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly. You are a skilled leader who delivers positive business results, works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, can multi-task and promotes a safe and inclusive culture. In addition, you will assist with quotations for new customer projects, provide technical mentoring to employees and ensure the shop has the required equipment and consumables.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in the machining industry is a must (especially manual machining)
· Knowledge of welding is an asset
· Experience in supervision/management in an industrial/manufacturing setting
· Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and standard practices used in steel fabrication and manufacturing environments
· Knowledge of industry safety regulations and supervisor safety responsibilities
· Must be customer service oriented
· Cross cultural awareness
· Ability to read and interpret drawings accurately
· Proficiency in the English language (oral and written)
· Self-motivated with strong ability to multitask, prioritize and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
· Basic working knowledge of computers and related programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Responsibilities:
· Daily supervision of shop floor employees
· Communicating and enforcing safety regulations/protocols
· Schedule and plan work flow as required in collaboration with sales team
· Reviewing drawings and material requirements for customer projects
· Ensuring consumables are in stock as applicable
· Quality control and inspections
· Train and mentor shop staff in specific job duties
· Ensure all shop equipment/machinery are properly operated and maintained
· Walk-in and/or call-in counter sales
· Review employee time entries and shop paperwork completeness
· Participate in employee evaluations
