Description:

The Shop Technician is responsible for the maintenance of personal monitors, quad head monitors, Rig Rat monitors, hardwire systems and associated gas detection equipment.
This position is located in Hamilton, at the Stoney Creek HSE Station. This is a part-time position (2-3 days a week) with some occasional and weekends required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with calibration, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment is an asset
  • Full G Drivers Licence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Prior experience with gas detection monitoring systems in an Oil and Gas environment is an asset
  • Solution driven with the ability to organize effectively as a multi-tasked service provider
  • Physically capable of performing the following tasks:
  • Lifting to 50lbs
  • Pushing / pulling (tools / objects)
  • Sitting / driving
  • Bending / kneeling / crouching
  • Standing / walking for long periods of time

Responsibilities:

  • Providing orientation, training and mentoring to field service staff on gas detection equipment
  • Collaborate with Carmen Technicians and Fugitive Emission Technicians for product familiarity
  • May be required to create sales quotes and work orders in SPIRA, for rentals or equipment sales.
  • Working collaboratively with other stations / departments on anticipated equipment requirements
  • Clean and organize the shop area, maintain parts inventory and electronic board repairs
  • Maintaining / calibrating and repairing, all electronic equipment including personal & portable monitors, wireless and area detection systems, environment monitoring units and CARMEN monitors
  • Conduct equipment maintenance procedures at the field level
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or management
  • This role requires you to have:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Willing to learn about calibration, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment is an asset. HSE will train the right candidate.
  • Prior experience with gas detection monitoring systems in an Oil and Gas environment, is an asset. HSE will train the right candidate

  • Perform general shop duties and occasional fire extinguisher maintenance
  • Operating air trailers, packs and hoses, hotshots
  • Driving equipment and going to the field on rare occasions
