As a Shop Technician, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer.
  • Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Maintains condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Complete dis-assembly and inspection, as efficiently as possible, so parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly.
  • Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment.

As a Shop Technician,you will beworking in the shop (with occasional work required outside invarying weather conditions) to repair, conduct maintenance, and address any customer concerns or questions regarding our fleet of John Deere equipment.

Job Requirements Include:

  • Willingness to learn. Mechanical experience in heavy equipment or related industry also preferred.
  • Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification preferred.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Valid, clean drivers license preferred.
  • Strong communication skill and self-motivated.

Physical Demands
o Physical Effort: Shop Mechanics constantly work on machines in the shop; which requires physical demands on a daily basis. They must be able to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services. They often have to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance. There will be occasions where shop mechanics must operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes as well. They frequently stand for long periods of time and often kneel, bend, lay on their backs, etc. to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance.
o Working Conditions: Shop Mechanics are constantly working in the repair shop to perform their tasks and duties. Work is performed on even surfaces on a hard floor in the shop. There is exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, loud noises, etc. To combat these potential dangers and risk hazards, Shop Mechanics must follow strict safety procedures, proper equipment safety, and PPE.
o Travel: Little to none.
