Description:
POSITION DETAILS
The University of Lethbridge is seeking a professional and detail-oriented Sign Shop Technician to join our team. This is a full-time, continuing position.
In this role, you will design and create engaging physical signage and vinyl treatments. Once designs have been approved by manager and stakeholders, the Sign Shop Technician will be responsible for the fabrication and installation of these items across campus. You will ensure compliance with established wayfinding protocols while collaborating with various departments and faculties to provide expert guidance on effective communication displays. Additionally, you will conduct assessments to enhance visual communication strategies, contributing to the overall navigability and aesthetic appeal of the university campus.
During periods of downtime from events, you will assist Building Maintenance Operators with tasks such as changing lights, facilitating office moves, and performing other general maintenance duties. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you will play a key role in the seamless execution of university events while supporting broader maintenance initiatives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
- Highschool Diploma Preferred
- 3 years in design and/or maintenance role
Proficiency in Stationary and Handheld Carpentry Tools, strong computer skills (required to use signage/design software to create vinyl cutouts), problem solving skills, attention to detail, dexterity for working with small items, strong communication skills.
A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
