Qorvo is seeking to hire a SILICON SYSTEMS VALIDATION ENGINEER to strengthen the company’s Ultra-WideBand (UWB) Semiconductor design and test validation team.
Based in the Company’s UWB silicon design center (formerly Decawave), in Dublin, Ireland, you will work on ground-breaking UWB technology that will be used in an amazing variety of products. Your role will be to ensure that our silicon systems will work flawlessly in our customers’ products and that we ship high volume silicon of the highest quality. In this role you will work closely with some of the pioneers of UWB technology in our IC systems & design teams, IC production test team and our applications teams. The work is technically challenging and highly rewarding.

Key Requirements

  • A strong degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in the areas of IC and system validation
  • Experience in evaluating/characterizing ICs, preferably wireless ICs.
  • Experience C programming in Embedded microcontroller environments
  • Experience with automated test equipment set-ups and scripting (Python, LabVIEW, etc.)
  • Well versed in the usage of lab equipment (oscilloscope, programmable power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzer, etc.).
  • RF experience is highly desirable since many of the application challenges with Qorvo’s technology involve RF-related issues including PCB layout & optimization, antenna selection and filtering at frequencies up to 10GHz
  • Knowledge of one or more wireless technologies like UWB, WLAN, Bluetooth is desirable.
  • A systematic problem-solving approach and a strong desire to see the product succeed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced cross functional team environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to come up with innovative solutions.
  • Good communication skills, verbal & writte

Responsibilities:

  • Debug faulty products, root-cause analysis, and defect reporting
  • Work with cross-functional teams on the application of UWB in customer products
  • Partner with project management and engineering leadership to develop lab characterization plans for UWB ICs
  • Design test solutions for characterization of UWB ICs
  • Identify test-gaps and time-consuming tests and build solutions that are reliable and fast to improve time-to-market
  • Design, Build and Execute lab characterization tests using automated test software (Python based)
  • Debug, analyze and report on IC functionality and performance
  • Analyze large datasets, write technical reports, and contribute measurement results to the product Datasheet
  • Work closely with IC designers and architects to improve the product performance
  • Drive data-review meetings for specification compliance
