Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Dean – Health Studies, the Simulation Laboratory Technician will assist with the coordination, implementation and evaluation of learning activities for students, staff and faculty using a variety of strategies including simulation technology. The incumbent will also participate collaboratively in the implementation and evaluation of the simulation lab strategic plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a two (2) or three (3) year diploma in a related health field such as Paramedic, Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy, Medical Radiation Tech or similar that provides patient care.
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in a health care setting
- Experience with simulation/simulation equipment considered an asset
- Aptitude or ability to work with relevant College systems and databases
- Well-developed interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
- Excellent proven problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and individually with minimal supervision
- An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student and stakeholder population

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and maintains simulation labs and equipment for programs
- Provides demonstration of proper equipment use and relevant procedures
- Provides input into student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through effective and timely communication
- Utilizes appropriate technological tools that support the learning environment
- Responsible for facilitating low fidelity simulation independently
- With guidance/mentorship, runs high fidelity simulations
- Participates as a member of the IP Simulation Team in discussions about operations
- Attends Simulation team meeting as required
