Boeing Global Services is seeking a Simulator Project Engineer to join their team in Miami, Florida. The Project Engineer position within Training & Simulation Digital Services at Boeing Global Services involves exercising engineering expertise and providing engineering leadership within a team representing diverse skill sets and working with internal and external resources and customers. You will be driving technical product development of solutions that are used to support pilot training. Various solutions are needed to support full flight simulators and training devices and equipment across multiple levels. This role is needed to ensure that not only development but also sustainment aspects are prepared to support both internal and external customers. Technical lifecycle support is a primary focus and this individual will need to assist in building plans that cover the long-term effort. You will be working with complex systems that support various types of aircraft. Our goal is to implement quality high fidelity solutions to provide value and flexibility to the training industry. Applicants must have technical knowledge of aircraft flight deck components and systems and be able to work under minimal direction.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 3+ years experience in engineering and/or engineering project management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Experience with simulator test engineering
- Strong communications skills
TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Responsibilities:
- Designs concepts to mimic Boeing aircraft components and systems for training device solutions
- Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements for products and solutions
- Works with customers, suppliers, team lead and management to obtain approvals and develop product requirements
- Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules
- Leads project execution to complete the work statement and identifies performance metrics
- Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
- Works with Finance to track project budget and report deviations.
- Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity
- Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned
- Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
- Acts as the focal point for Training Device Manufacturers (TDM), Airplane Customers, and internal/external training centers
- Acts as a technical liaison between Supplier Management, TDM, Boeing, and supplier technical staff to manage engineering requirements
- This position requires strong coordination and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Guides others and directs all phases of assigned cross-organizational or business unit integrated project activities demonstrating proficiency in all product ownership areas
- Provides engineering technical support to sustaining programs as required.
- Utilizes Simulator Tracking and Recording System (STARS) or obtaining the ability to use it
