Description:

To support the Senior Sister and Matron in the delivery of the highest standards of care to patients attending the Day Case department at WPH and our satellite units. The role will require management, supervision and co-ordination of nursing activities within the departments. The individual will provide a visible , accessible and authoritative presence in the department to whom, staff, patients and their family’s can seek assistance, advice and support.
To manage to day to day running of Day Case services, supported by Senior Sister and Matron
To deliver quality care to the patients and their carers, within Trust guidelines, policies, procedures and the NMC Code of Conduct
To perform the role of trainer, assessor, mentor and supervisor for nursing staff as required in the delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) treatments
To investigate and assist with the response to informal complaints and incidents
To act as a resource to all staff, patients and carers
To assist in the monitoring of attendance for all staff, monitor staff sickness and staff return to work after periods of absence
Attend meetings on behalf of the Senior Sister/ Matron as required
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract / secondment basis for the maximum period of 12 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust’s legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.
