Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 sister / charge nurse to join the Diabetes and Endocrine Out patient Department / Respiratory Out Patients at NGH.
At times cross site working at Medical out patients at RHH may be required.
Due to advances in diabetes technology, an awareness of these treatments and good computer skills would be advantages.
Maintain effective communications within the management structure and the multidisciplinary team.
Manage own workload in order to fully utilise time and resources, raising issues of concern or your own limitations to your managers.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive written and computerised records whilst adhering to local and national policies on confidentiality and data protection.
Maintain confidentiality in respect of patient records, medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
Adhere to the Trust’s policies and procedures, with particular emphasis given to health and safety at work, the administration of drugs, control of infection and disposal of waste.
Liaise effectively with other services including primary care in order to provide clinical and social support for patients and their carers.
Provide detailed and accurate referrals to ensure the needs of patients can be readily identified.
Ensure that leadership and management of the team is carried out in line with the Trusts PROUD values and behaviours.
Access to all electronic systems pertinent to patients records and care.

GRADE CARE GROUP IS COMPRISED OF 3 CLINICAL DIRECTORATES:

Diabetes and Endocrinology
Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Respiratory Medicine
All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus’ although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus’ and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
