Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Ward Sister to join our compassionate, friendly and forward-thinking team. Ward 1 is a 21 bedded acute medical ward which specialises in Respiratory.
This is an ideal opportunity to further your career increasing your knowledge, clinical skills, professionally and managerially, and work closely with the Multidisciplinary team within a positive and challenging environment.
There are opportunities to learn new skills such as high flow oxygen (Opti-flow). Chest drain management and NIV (Non-Invasive Ventilation).
We are looking for highly motivated leader to work within our dynamic team whilst ensuring high standards of care, demonstrating the health boards values and professionalism.
We are a warm, friendly team of professionals who work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, holistic driven, evidence-based care to all our patients.

You will be required to demonstrate competence in assessing, planning and evaluating the care needs of a group of patients with support from your ward manager, colleagues and educator team.

The ward has Four Respiratory consultants who work closely with the team on a daily basis. The Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialists also work very closely with the MDT to enable prompt discharges and facilitate community needs of the respiratory patient being discharged. The Respiratory Clinical Nurse specialists also support with any training needs and ensure ongoing regular teaching to ensure that staff are practicing with the most up to date evidence-based practice.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (six of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres.
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services.
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
