Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Recovery Practitioner (RN/ODP) to join our Main Theatre Department at UHCW NHS Trust. Candidates should have a proven record in Recovery Care and Practice. The post is open to both NMC and HCPC registered practitioners who possess the relevant experience to lead in this Specialty.
You will support the B7 leads in the delivery of a safe and efficient service in accordance with the National and Local Guidelines.
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal/liaison skills. You should have an ability to be adaptive and work under own initiative. You will be a Role Model and Mentor who will support the Recovery Team Members / Junior staff and Students.

As a Major Trauma Unit we provide Operating Theatre Care for patients 24/7. You will be expected to provide quality care for high acuity cases and participate in the on call commitment, covering 1st on call to deal with emergency cases requiring surgical intervention.
The primary focus of the post is to ensure that the Trust provides high quality patient centred care.
The practitioner will act as an advocate for patients.
The practitioner will provide clinical leadership for a specified theatre / specialist area.
The practitioner will carry out a wide range of theatre duties at the direction of senior staff.
The practitioner will be responsible for their own professional conduct in line with NMC/HPC Code of Conduct. They will adhere to and understand all Trust & local policies and procedures

1.Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the peri-operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
2.Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
3.Maintain health, safety and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
4.Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies.
5.Prepare, monitor and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty.
6.Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
7.Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
8.Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
9.Maintain accurate & legible records of care.
Clinical - Surgery/Anaesthetics/Recovery
1.Assess requirements of the theatre/anaesthetic room/recovery room for the operating list.
2.Provide all necessary equipment and materials for the list.
3.Monitor all equipment used, take action if found to be faulty.
4.Demonstrate knowledge of operative procedures/departmental procedures.
Teamwork
1.Communicate effectively with other members of the theatre team and other clinical work areas.
2.Acknowledge and value people’s roles within the team.
3.Recognise own and others limitations within the team.
4.Participate in achieving the aims of the department/Trust.
Leadership and Innovation
1.Demonstrate a flexible attitude to changes in practice within the theatre department and the Trust.
