Role Details
As a leadership volunteer, you will be part of our committees of 10 to 15 volunteers who will work over the months to help us organize our fundraising events. Depending on the needs in your community, available roles could include committee lead, logistics, community outreach, volunteer lead, and social media.
Description
The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run.
This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
As the volunteer Route & Site Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Creating a 1k and 5k route.
- Being the liaison with police, security, and traffic management to ensure a safe route and ensuring all permits are submitted and approved.
- Creating an impactful start and finish line/area for the event.
- Booking the venue and all logistical suppliers working with your Run Director, Logistics, and staff partner.
- Creating a site plan for event day.
- Executing set up and tear down on event weekend.
- Overseeing all route/site tasks on event day.

It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause.

Must be 18+ to apply and complete the Canadian Cancer Society code of conduct.

Your commitment
- This is a 6-month commitment (May through October).
- Attending local committee meetings (generally bi-weekly to monthly).
- Independent role work/responsibilities (approx. 2-4 hours per month).
- Must be available over the event weekend (October 5 & October 6).
