The compounding effect of climate change and the degradation of our natural buffers amplify the risks to which the Philippines’s most vulnerable communities are exposed. The increasing frequency and intensity of the disasters the country experiences require systematic and proactive solutions to reduce the impacts on people and nature. Disaster risks can be minimized by improving the health and strength of our natural ecosystems. By combining the experience and expertise in humanitarian support and disaster risk reduction on nature, ecosystems, and biodiversity, the Red Cross and WWF’s unique collaboration on implementing a project that prioritizes Nature-based Solutions in addressing the Filipinos’s disaster vulnerability is utterly logical and urgent.
