As the Site Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day site management and engineering tasks, ensuring that all works are completed to the highest standards and in line with project specifications. You’ll work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and senior management to ensure the project is delivered on time, safely, and within budget.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a site engineering role, preferably with a main contractor in Ireland
- Proficiency in setting out, surveying, and using engineering tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Total Station).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations, including health and safety standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues on site promptly and efficiently.
- Experience in leading and mentoring junior engineering staff and collaborating with the wider construction team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
Responsibilities:
- Setting out, leveling, and surveying the site
- Collaborate with the Senior Engineer and the extended construction team to review the design and associated programme of works, ensuring alignment and timely updates.
- Follow instructions from the Senior Engineer, taking responsibility for understanding both short-term and long-term project goals. Regularly assess the plan, noting any changes and responding promptly.
- Once settled in the role, provide leadership to assistant engineering staff under your supervision. Assess mentoring and training needs with guidance from the Senior Engineer.
- Coordinate with the Senior Engineer to ensure the construction team has all necessary information to execute the works effectively.
- Upload weekly Request for Information (RFI) schedules and engage in detailed discussions with the Senior Engineer to clarify technical details and address any potential changes. Raise RFIs for the Senior Engineer’s review as needed.
- Comprehend the project programme and anticipate when design information is required. Promptly inform the Senior Engineer of any delays in design that could impact the programme.
- Manage setting out and dimensional control on site, collaborating on primary control procedures and monitoring systems.
- Provide timely information for technical submissions, ensuring compliance with approval timelines.
- Review Inspection and Test Plans for necessary inspections during construction.
- Generate method statements and risk assessments, prioritizing safety and buildability.
- Conduct inspections as directed by the Senior Engineer.
- Learn to implement temporary works within your scope and prepare to take responsibility.
- Maintain a project diary, documenting events that impact the programme or commercial matters.
- Flag design coordination issues to the Senior Engineer and attend weekly design meetings.
- Implement the quality system in coordination with the Senior Engineer and request necessary training.
- Ensure contractor compliance with quality control and oversee inspections.
- Maintain the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) register and provide weekly progress updates.
- Participate in the close-out process, resolving assigned snags promptly.
- Contribute to the Schedule of Lessons Learnt and assist with subcontractor account close-outs.
