Description:
Location and Start time:
- Harwood Jr. Public School (50 Leigh Street) - 3:00pm - 5:30pm
BGC Weston Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Club serves children and youth in the Weston Mount Dennis/ Lawrence Heights and surrounding communities providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs. We are looking for motivated people to facilitate our afterschool children’s’ program for the 2024-2025 school year for children ranging in age from 4 - 12 years old.

Program Oversight and Coordination:
- Planning and Delivery: Coordinate the planning and execution of the After-School Program, ensuring it aligns with Ontario’s After School Program Guidelines for 2024/2025. Develop and implement engaging physical education, recreational, and nutrition activities for children aged 4 to 12 years.
- Program Space Management: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the program space, including maintaining equipment and supplies in safe working condition.
- Staff and Volunteer Management:
- Coordination: Oversee and support Program Coordinators, guiding them in areas such as accident incident reports, registrations, attendance, and supplies.
- Mentoring: Provide guidance and support to program mentors and/or volunteers ensuring they effectively contribute to the program’s success.
- Safety and Incident Management:
- Supervision: Supervise participants and staff to ensure a safe and secure environment, responding to critical incidents in accordance with the Club’s policies and procedures.
- Incident Reporting: Coordinate with Program Coordinators regarding accident incident reports and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
- Administrative and Communication Duties:
- Attendance and Registration: Monitor and manage program attendance, including making phone calls to parents if children do not show up and updating participant lists as needed.
- Supplies and Inventory: Oversee the inventory of program materials and equipment, ensuring all resources are well-stocked and in good condition.
- Snack Preparation: Prepare and manage snacks for participants, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Liaison: Communicate with parents/guardians, school principals, caretakers, and other stakeholders regarding program updates, participant progress, and any issues of concern.
- Community Partnerships: Work with outside community partners to enhance program delivery and community involvement.
- Policy Enforcement and Conflict Resolution:
- Policy Adherence: Enforce program policies and procedures, including disciplinary actions when necessary. Address conflicts and manage behavior promptly using approved techniques.
- Other Duties:
- Additional Tasks: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Program Manager and Supervisors. This may include attending special events, training sessions, or additional administrative tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree/diploma or working towards post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child & Youth Care, Social Services, or a related program. (mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience working with children aged 4 to 12 years in a structured environment.
- Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: sports, arts, recreation, education, health, and nutrition.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Strong skills in supervision and program planning, with a track record of successfully managing activities and ensuring a positive environment.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle various situations promptly and effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and ensure program safety.
- Flexibility to work after-school hours, PA Days, and occasional evenings as required.
- Safe Food Handler certification. (Asset)
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (mandatory)
- Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring) (mandatory)
- Certification in HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development training (Asset)
