Description:
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
- Reports to the Site Manager.
- Responsible for advising managers on technical matters.
- Accountability for day to day running of important processes and procedures which, if not fulfilled would have serious impact on business need
- Responsible for compliance where appropriate.
- Frequent contact internally with Production, Feedstock & Digestate teams
- Frequent contact externally with contractors and suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS LEVEL:
- Maths and English GCSE grade A to C (Level 9 – 4) or equivalent.
- City & Guilds level 3 (NVQ-3) in EC&I or equivalent in an engineering discipline. Comparable experience in an allied industry sought after
- Mechanical skills are required such as will provide the ability to address a range of issues, some of which may be difficult.
- Team supervision that encouraged engagement, ownership, and teamwork.
- A track record of effective management of SHEQ. Working safely IOSH is advantageous.
- IT literate with an understanding of Office and CMMS experience
- CompEX level 04 is advantageous
- Fluent spoken and written English

Responsibilities:
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
Responsible for ensuring that the site is maintained safely in legislative compliance, to company standards and in a manner which maximises long term site profitability. Support the senior leadership team in leading the site in all aspects of AD operations.
PART 2: DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the engineering unit to achieve an incident and injury free work environment.
- Ensuring a safe system of work is implemented and maintained
- Supervision of all maintenance and project activities (within the role’s remit) to ensure safe working practices.
- All plant areas and equipment are kept clean, tidy, and safe.
- Visibly demonstrate that SHEQ will not be compromised by other business needs including promoting & role modelling correct behaviour, addressing unsafe behaviour and substandard conditions.
- Ensure standard SHEQ and operating procedures are in place and up to date and create a culture of openness and involvement by the team.
- Responsible for recording all incidents, actively encourage near-miss reporting, reporting to management and implementing corrective actions.
- Enforce compliance with mandatory rules and address non-compliance issues.
- Responsible for ensuring the site is compliant with PSSR and LOLER
- Support site with EA requirements.
- Manage complex or multiple tasks
- Manage the hands-on practical aspects of the role with the supervisory & management elements of the role.
- Provide appropriate reporting e.g. Daily updates – priorities, weekly forward plans, maintenance reports.
- Liaise and supervise external contractors for routine and specific specialist work.
- Liaise with site manager to agree responsibilities on jobs.
- Responsible for some outage planning, organizing work, equipment, and contractors.
- Produce Risk assessments, constructions phase plans and Method statements as required.
- Be present, and assist if needed, during any onsite commissioning activities with new equipment.
- Take responsibility for the delivery of KPIs and company targets.
- To plan and execute the daily maintenance activities to achieve the budget.
- Sharing of resources, including personnel, to support all maintenance and operations.
- Make sure site maintenance reports are produced to a clear standard in a timely way as required.
- Report on the engineering jobs as requested.
- Procure in compliance with company procedures and buying policies, including raising purchase requisitions and goods receipting.
- Ensure overall operating effectiveness to deliver best practice plant performance in terms of availability, efficiency, and reliability.
- Responsible for ensuring that all assigned maintenance tasks are completed diligently and on time this includes accurate retention of records. (This includes activities completed by contractors)
- Responsible for the management of stores.
- Managing all the trades ordering and expediting, including consumables and special spares
- Plan and assess need for parts and material and component replacements. Ensure prompt overhaul/replacement of parts.
- Provide day-to-day support to Biocollectors group. Role may expand in future to also cover additional sites.
- Organise and participate in maintenance call out rota. Respond to call outs and decide on appropriate action in a timely manner to maintain continuous operations.
- Make sure the team respond to call outs in a timely manner to maintain continuous operations.
- Maximise the amount of maintenance that can be undertaken by the maintenance team, by means of efficient use of resources
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Reviewing and adding maintenance tasks to CMMS system
- Writing SOP’s (Service Schedules) to back up the CMMS tasks
- Undertake detailed root cause analysis of process, mechanical, instrumentation and control faults on the plants.
- Assist in development and ongoing support of spares and maintenance.
- Drive technical and operational innovation to achieve improvements in plant performance.
- Identify improvement projects and optimisation opportunities, including undertaking root cause analysis, reviewing maintenance spend and repeat faults.
- Minimise plant call outs and manage holidays and lieu time effectively.
- Respond to abnormal plant behaviour and carry out remedial actions.
- Positively engage in continuous improvement aimed at further optimising production and efficient ways of carrying out engineering tasks.
- Ensure continuous development of a high-performance culture, with an emphasis on empowerment through involvement, accountability, and key performance measures.
- Ensure a rota is managed to cover holidays, lieu time and call outs.
- Plan and execute the daily checks and maintenance activities to achieve maximum operational availability.
- Responsible for ensuring that all site maintenance tasks are completed diligently and on time, including accurate retention of records. (This includes activities completed by contractors.)
- Manage spares store, maintain spares records, and plan and assess need for parts, materials, and component replacements.
- Plan and prioritise maintenance activities, maximising the amount of maintenance that can be undertaken by site team and managing activities carried out by contractors.
- Take ownership for identifying, managing, and resolving site issues.
- Prioritising and allocating tasks (by being adaptable & understanding important vs urgent)
- Make sure the team are recording all maintenance activities on a CMMS.
- Contribute to the overall success of Biocollectors group.
- Ensure yourself and team works collaboratively with other teams to deliver in the best interests of the company.
- Release personnel to support with other sites planned and unplanned activities.
- Work collaboratively with Head of Engineering and Projects to support large overhauls/outages and projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £48,000.00-£53,000.00 per year
