This role may also be known as Operations Technician.

We are seeking a Site Operations Assistant . You will be part of a dynamic and innovative environment and will become an integral part of our vision to address patients’ unmet needs while building Britain’s Biggest Biotech. You will use your expertise to help support the scientific team to solve drug discovery challenges and be part of multi-disciplinary project teams. You will be able to work in state-of-the-art laboratory and modern facilities for optimum collaboration alongside a focused and caring team.
You will already possess experience in supporting laboratory and building operations to enable the smooth running of a Biotechnology company.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • Previous experience as a lab/site assistant or equivalent professional qualifications in a life science setting or other relevant area.
  • Understanding of chemicals and solvents used in R&D environments.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and develop solutions.
  • Strong numeracy and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team and independently as required.
  • Proficiency in using office 365 and willingness to learn new ones.
  • Positive and proactive attitude towards problem-solving and adapting to changing demands.
  • Innovative and ambitious mindset, with an inquisitive and agile approach to problem-solving and overcoming technical challenges; motivated to continuously learn and take on challenges.
  • Caring and inclusive; respectful and receptive to others’ diverse ideas, experience and perspectives, and enjoys working collaboratively with others as a team.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience using My Amici system for ordering.
  • Previous exposure to working with Fluics.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting in scientific or biomedical environments.
  • Knowledge of stock management and maintaining inventory levels
  • Experience in decanting LN2 and undertaking related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for receiving consumables and chemical deliveries, ensuring accuracy, proper storage, conduct regular stock checks of consumables and raise orders through My Amici system as needed.
  • Removal of Clinical, General, Recyclable and liquid waste in accordance with regulations.
  • Monitor and manage licence for chemicals and solvents using internal tracking systems including spot checks, assist in writing and reviewing COSHH Risk Assessments to ensure compliance and safety protocols.
  • Support the Site Operations Manager with health and safety inspections, tasks, procedures, and undertaking Health and Safety roles as required.
  • Proactively assist with the maintenance of lab spaces by ensuring tidiness, functionality, and safety.
  • Provide first response to equipment failures, assess fixability, and coordinate with engineers for repairs. Support the organisation of annual and ad hoc servicing for equipment in all labs and updating maintenance records.
  • Take responsibility for LN2 and cylinder levels, including occasional decanting and changing cylinders as required.Top up cell bank storage.
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks and queries from scientists and the Site Operations Manager such as stocktake, restocking of consumables, glasswasher duties and provide some out of hours support and holiday cover if required.
  • Build relationships internally and externally to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Share information openly and work collaboratively with other departments to help advance different projects and achieve company goals.
