Vacancy: Site Process Safety Engineer
Location: Brimsdown (site based)
Job Family: PGMS
Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, the Site Process Engineer (Engineering) will be responsible for the Site Process Safety Programme and associated strategy, improving and developing PSRM practices and systems efficiently and driving consistent behaviours and systematically controlling process safety risk and compliance.
The role will be part of a core Engineering team within PGMS to ensure focus and delivery of all activities including and contributing to process safety, while supporting programme elements of process safety risk reduction personally for the site including implementation of the JM process safety policies to ensure compliance, reporting and analysis of core programme metrics to PGMS Leadership and JM Group Teams.
You will have regular engagement and alignment with the Process Safety Engineer role that reports into the EHS function.

Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is one of the four core Businesses Units of JM with revenues of circa £500 million, excluding precious metals, that manages, distributes, refines and recycles precious metals and fabricates products using precious metals and related materials. The business unit also manufactures platinum group metals, minor metal compounds, organometallics and fine metal powders for high technology applications, as well as providing a range of management services for platinum group metals.
PGMS has manufacturing operations in the UK, US, India and China and sells to key markets globally across Europe, the US and Asia.

Your responsibilities:

  • Being a point of contact for the PGMS Site in relation to Process Safety Plan and associated strategy and help site drive PSRM activities.
  • Owning and managing the local PGMS Process Safety Strategy.
  • Supporting local Project Engineering and Management of Change teams with site based PSM Guidance and support.
  • Manage and be the primary process safety resource for studies in the local site PHR and LOPA plan.
  • Support in the delivery of Assurance Activities within local site.
  • Regular engagement with Business PSM Team and Group PSM Team.

Requirements for the role:

  • Degree or higher (or equivalent) in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5+ year’s experience in Process Safety Management
  • Experience of managing a significant change in an organisation
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Decision making skills relating to Process Safety Assessments and associated escalation
  • Deliver Innovative & Practical Solutions balancing cost and risk and needs of the business

Travel:

  • Site Based (Brimsdown), with the opportunity to attend other sites to meet the needs of the business.

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Working Hours

  • The work environment is mainly office based, however there will be need to visit production areas within the site regularly with commensurate ability to do this safely
  • Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers and have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months
  • There are no specific physical demands with this role
