Description:

SITE SUPERVISOR - CONSTRUCTION

The Site Supervisor will oversee all on-site aspects of construction projects. The Supervisor will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role involves coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and the project management team, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in a construction-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Journeyperson certification in Carpentry, Plumbing and/or related trade.
  • Knowledge and experience with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations (track record of ensuring compliance with standards on construction sites)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven construction experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee subcontractor work.
  • Experience in scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
  • Previous involvement in resolving on-site issues and conflicts effectively.
  • Experience in conducting regular site inspections and maintaining site records/documentation.
  • History of managing construction site logistics, including materials delivery and site security.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in construction software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Understanding of construction processes and techniques.
  • Understanding and application of lean construction principles is a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Must have valid MB license to travel from site to site as required.

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a construction environment, including exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • On-site presence required throughout the duration of the project.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all on-site construction activities.
  • Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of subcontractors, laborers, and other site personnel.
  • Conduct daily site meetings to review work progress, address issues, and plan activities.
  • Ensure that all workers are aware of their responsibilities and are working efficiently.
  • Inspect work to ensure it meets the company’s quality standards.
  • Site security, site inventory and tools, training site workers, performance appraisals, payroll and time management, reporting, schedule and budgets, change order management.
  • Coordinate the delivery and use of materials and equipment.
  • Responsible for health, safety and environment at all worksites, ensuring workers and subcontractors perform their duties in accordance with Forthright’s policies & procedures and Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health legislation.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Ensure that all workers are equipped with the necessary safety gear and training.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Address any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and progress.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and filed correctly.
  • Facilitate site visits and meetings with clients and inspectors.
  • Ensure all work complies with building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for site activities.
  • Stay updated with changes in regulations and standards.
  • Other construction-related duties as assigned.
