Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship, the Skilled Trades Shop Technician supports students and faculty with a safe and effective learning environment. The incumbent orders materials for program professors, work with full-time technicians and faculty to organize labs within the Carpentry, Manufacturing, welding and Building Sciences programs, maintain inventory, prepare instructional shop spaces for a variety of functions, build items for instructional shops as well as for program professors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a two (2) year post secondary education program or equivalency
- Provincial Trades Certification in any of the following trades, millwright, machinist or carpenter
- Minimum of five (5) years work experience in fields related to the trade certifications
- Ability to work safely with handheld and power tools building a variety of items
- Experience with inventory management considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
