Description:
Support the daily operation of the Engaged Learning Office (ELO) and support high-impact practices such as community-engaged learning (CEL), study away (e.g., study abroad and domestic study) and the Civically Engaged Scholars program. Responsibilities include marketing and promotion for CEL and study away, providing student support and advising, peer mentoring for the Civically Engaged Scholars program and assisting with the Study Away student Ambassador program. This role requires staffing the office in person at the Redwood campus, maintaining a professional office environment. Additional duties include attending meetings with the director, taking notes, organizing and providing logistical support for special events, and interacting with campus departments, faculty, and community partners.

- Experience volunteering in the community, participating in community-engaged learning (i.e., service-learning), studying abroad, domestic study, or travel experience.
- At least one year of customer service or office experience (full or part-time)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic computer literacy
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to develop or enhance public speaking skills.
- Some knowledge of higher education or educational settings.
- Good organizational skills, customer service, and phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
- Accurate typing skills, computer skills, internet research, and office email correspondence.
- Work accurately with attention to detail, proofreading ability, writing and editing skills, ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties Special Instructions
Work-study is awarded to SLCC students through the Federal College Work-Study program, which requires establishing financial need through the FAFSA application from the Financial Aid Office. If you do not have work-study awarded to you, you will not be eligible for work under work-study positions.
This position is not eligible for remote work.
