Job objectives and responsibilities
Overview of our business
- Mitie is a UK bases facilities management and technical services company (revenue c.£3.4bn). We are one of the UK’s 250 largest public companies.
- Mitie / Communities revenue (£400m) is one of the 4 major business divisions within Mitie, along Technical Services, Business Services and Central Government & Defence. At Mitie Communities, we service public sector clients in Healthcare, Education (schools and universities), local authorities, councils and emergency services. We provide our clients with both soft and hard facilities management services. Our contracts include both commercial out-put specified contracts and Private Finance Initiative contracts.
Role Objectives
- Work collaboratively as part of the Projects Team
- To provide a full building fabric service where required. Which meets statutory and contractual obligations.
- Work effectively and efficiently to deliver assigned carpentry and multi-skilled works were deemed competent and sufficiently trained
- Complete all work-related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support Trust staff, patients and visitors to the facilities, ensuring a positive patient experience.
Main Duties
- Support your line manager in all commercial aspects of the services, ensuring statutory and contractual compliance.
- Be proactive and have the ability to anticipate and/or diagnose and repair issues.
- Ability to record work accurately on work sheets and computer-based systems.
- Review and propose recommendations to improve productivity and the efficiency of set routines and work schedules with your line manager.
- Challenge and promote safe working to ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) compliance is at the forefront as what is delivered as evidenced by application of Mitie’s LiveSafe application, no Lost Time Accidents (LTA) or serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases or specified dangerous occurrences (near misses), as defined by the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).
- Ensure effective Risk Assessments are completed on PDA for all works.
- Perform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.
- Proactive and positive approach to work.
- Must have sound interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company, in the most professional manner possible, utilising the uniform and PPE issued.
- Provide excellent customer service to the client and patients / visitors, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner.
- Ensure clients operational procedures are always adhered to.
- Obtain appropriate authorisation for access into restricted areas from the client’s representative as and when required.
- Able to carry tools and equipment by hand up to 20kg.
- Able to ascend/descend vertical access equipment; able to work at height.
- Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.
Person Specification
- PFI/Healthcare experience advantageous.
- Served a recognised trade training scheme to NVQ level 2 minimum in the Building Fabric environment.
- Experience in painting/plastering/floor laying/plumbing would be advantageous.
- Highly motivated and driven by social responsibility to achieve the highest levels of delivery in a healthcare environment.
- Confident, with the ability to work under pressure in a calm and positive way.
- Excellent people and communication skills with the ability to express your thoughts clearly, whether written or spoken.
- A dedicated team player with an enthusiastic personality.
- Evidence of experience that provides the competencies, however gained.
