Your role is based in the UK, where you will work within our rapidly expanding global SMART Building team. In this fast-paced environment, you will be working with our international teams on ongoing projects in the UK and worldwide. You will be tasked with conceptualising and designing these future landmarks while ensuring that the building solutions that will stay viable and relevant over the asset’s life. In this role, you will be directly client-facing in developing technology solutions to integrate the built environment and building technology. Creatively working with the multi-disciplinary design teams, you will conceptualise and carry out the technical design to deliver SMART building strategies and holistic solutions.

Your duties will entail design and project delivery of SMART design related services for our clients, including:

  • Consulting directly with clients, advising on a broad range of technology that will enable them to meet their operational and efficiency goals, and leading the development of technical deliverables from brief through to specification, tender support, and soft landings.
  • Play key role in the delivery of digital transformation and smart city/building projects across Ramboll’s projects.
  • Offer innovative approaches to future city actions by developing Smart City Masterplans and processes, based on global trends but considering local contexts, demands and place-sourced opportunities.
  • Work alongside various Ramboll engineering disciplines (including UK and internationally), to identify a portfolio of smart city solutions with potential to improve the quality of life and address dimensions such as Smart Economy, Smart Environment, Net Zero Agenda, Smart Living, Smart Mobility, Smart People and Smart Governance.
  • Establish relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels to cultivate and manage business development opportunities and to be able to develop the appropriate Business Case and next steps to Project realisation.
  • Working on a broad range of projects across various sectors to support other disciplines and lead the integrated design of technology including production of design deliverables.
  • Being part of the growth within the Smart Building team to help win new projects in this area, develop our capabilities and grow the team.
  • Line management and technical support of junior staff in the team, fostering a culture of innovation, foresight, and collegiality within the team.

Responsibilities:

From the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development to grow. For this role, we believe your starting point is:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology engineering discipline or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in a technology consulting role or a relevant position with transferable skills. Proven experience of working as a Smart Buildings Consultant / Engineer. This includes design of ICT / Telecommunications / ELV / SMART Technology systems which can be applied to buildings and infrastructure across various building sectors (e.g. office, residential, retail, hotel, healthcare).
  • Experience in the delivery of communications systems including Structured Cabling Systems, Networks (LAN, Wi-Fi), Building Management System, CCTV, Access Control and Intrusion Detection, Audio-Visual and Multi-media systems.
  • Preparation of tender documents and technical specifications.
  • Conduct technical feasibility study, life cycle study and planning for ICT systems, preparation of study reports, design reports and technical notes.
  • Maintain close contact with key personnel within the providers of systems with respect to opportunity, delivery, and relationship development.
  • Assisting senior management in identifying and developing opportunities and submission of proposals for new work opportunities.
  • Familiarity with the wider industry markets, and trends in technology adoption.
  • Proven ability to work in a customer facing/consulting environment.
  • Experience delivering projects through all phases of the lifecycle.
  • Ideally have an understanding in Sustainability and the relationship between Smart and Sustainable Cities.
  • Knowledge of relevant technologies (4G/5G communications, IoT, big data and analytics) and their impact on society, business, and economy.
  • Relevant qualifications, ideally accompanied by evidence of progress towards professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., BICSI RCDD, DCDC certification, CWNP, CCNA, or similar industry accreditations)
