This Smart Meter Manager will report to the Head of Technology and will work within the Technology, Strategy Regulation and Support Services based in either our Ipswich or London office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £95,000.00 and a bonus of 10%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREINCE:

Engineering Degree or equivalent industry qualifications.
Chartered member of a professional body or working towards. (e.g IET)
Relevant management experience
Financial understanding.
Experience with the regulatory regime and familiarity with costs and cost drivers in the business.
Collaborate with senior partners both internally and externally.
Experience managing a large operational activity.
Successful delivery track record.
Knowledge of electrical networks and power systems.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

You will be the central senior responsible owner for Smart Metering business solutions, strategic change and senior partner management both internally and externally. You will be responsible for UK Power Networks position on regulatory and security matters relating to smart metering and represent us at these at external forums.
You will responsible for developing the Smart Metering System strategy and capabilities to deliver benefits to customers following UK Power Networks strategy as published in the ED1 Smart Metering Business Benefits Plan.
You are responsible for delivery of the ED1 Business Plan forecast of £26.7m benefits to UK Power Networks and its c8.1m customers through the Smart Meter programme. Once the smart meter programme is commissioned, it will deliver enduring annual benefits measured against costs presented in the ED1 Business Plan.
You will lead the adoption and ongoing operational management of Smart Metering systems and capabilities working in collaboration with all UK Power Networks Directorates at EMT, SMT and SME levels.
You will also lead the development and ongoing operational management of the Smart Meter system to support delivery of enhanced business process to deliver benefits to customers and the business.
You will develop, through smart meter data, enhanced visibility of the LV network ensuring improved Customer Service, Network Management and Control, improved Distribution Planning and Connections work.
Visibility of the LV network will also be an important enabler to develop DSO Operations and capabilities delivering further benefits to customers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Represent UK Power Networks at senior industry level forums hosted by Ofgem, BEIS, ENA, DCC and SEC, including responding to industry consultations related to smart metering.
Ensure that the Smart Metering team facilitates all UK Power Networks directorates in utilising Smart Meter data to maximise benefits for customers and UK Power Networks.
Responsible for UK Power Networks Compliance with Smart Energy Code (SEC) Obligations.
Business owner UK Power Networks smart meter systems and DCC gateways.
Develop the smart meters system, integrating into existing UK Power Networks systems to maximise utilisation of smart meter data and to support delivery of DSO capabilities on the low voltage network.
Responsible for the continued efficient operation and management of the UK Power Networks Smart Meter system.
Manage technical risks affecting operations under the SEC.
Monitor the DCC Performance and planned changes.
To create a highly motivating environment for employees to develop and deliver to their best ability to achieve 3 Star employee engagement.
To develop and provide Smart Meter performance and business benefits reports.
Line management and mentoring of Smart Meter Engineers
To manage the Smart Meter team following budget.
Deputise for Head of Technology where required.
