Description:
SmartICE is seeking an Operations Program Manager to oversee and lead the management and execution of ice monitoring operations across more than 30 communities in Inuit Nunangat and northern territories. This hands-on role is pivotal in ensuring the effective implementation of SmartICE’s initiatives.
SmartICE is an award-winning technological innovation for the North. SmartICE offers a suite of climate change adaptation tools that integrate Indigenous and local knowledge of ice with advanced data acquisition, remote monitoring and satellite mapping for ice travel safety. Our community-based services provide invaluable, data-driven insights into ice thickness and local ice travel conditions, in near real-time.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise the SmartICE Operations team, comprising Regional Operations Leads and Community Coordinators to deliver ice monitoring services in communities.
- Maintain regular contact with communities to understand their ice monitoring needs.
- Plan and coordinate community operations, equipment requirements, and training needs to ensure effective and responsive ice monitoring services.
- Manage the operations budget to maintain quality and efficient ice monitoring in communities.
- Collaborate with the SmartICE Technology, Mapping, Finance, Engagement, and Training teams to focus organizational efforts on meeting community ice monitoring needs.
- Participate in senior leadership meetings, report quarterly to the Board of Directors, and contribute to project reporting.
