We are looking for a Snowflake DataOps Engineer (Cloud DBA) to join the team. Initially on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract the Snowflake DataOps Engineer (Cloud DBA) will be responsible for managing the new Cloud Data Lakehouse which will be the strategic location for data in Chaucer. repurposed to snowflake dataOps engineer
As our new Snowflake DataOps Engineer (Cloud DBA) you will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our cloud data platform.
As a skilled Snowflake DataOps Engineer (Cloud DBA), you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and performance optimization of our cloud-based database systems. You will engage with multiple stakeholders - Data Governance, Data Strategy, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Visualisation and Chaucer Technology Group to accelerate adoption of Data Management Services including adoption of cloud solutions.
Responsibilities:
- On-Prem to Cloud Database Migration:
- Wrk with Data Architect to manage the migration efforts to migrate our on-prem DWH to the cloud.
- Database Administration:
- Perfrm routine Snowflake database administration tasks, including backups (where needed), restores, and monitoring.
- Evaluate and mnitor the performance of the data platform.
- Database Design and Implementation:
- Cllaborate with data engineers, developers and data architects to design and implement scalable and efficient database solutions in the cloud.
- Excellent understanding f data architecture principles and how these can be practically implemented.
- Manage and oversee integration between development and operations
- Develp DataOps processes
- Monitoring and Performance Optimization
- Identify and reslve performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal database performance.
- Cnduct regular performance tuning and optimization activities.
- Trubleshooting and Issue Resolution
The ideal Snowflake DataOps Engineer (Cloud DBA) will have a strong background in Snowflake administration with a solid understanding of database architecture and management. As Chaucer will be migrating our on-prem DWH to the cloud, previous experience of managing migrations will be very beneficial. The role requires a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
