POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled Snowflake DBA with development and DevOps experience to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, specifically with Snowflake, hands-on experience in developing data solutions, and expertise in DevOps practices. This role will be responsible for managing our Snowflake environment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of our data systems, developing and optimizing data pipelines and solutions, and implementing DevOps practices to improve our deployment processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator with at least 2 years focused on Snowflake.
  • Proven experience in Snowflake development, including ETL processes, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with other database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) is a plus.
  • Experience with data integration tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Snowflake certification.
  • Experience with Snowflake Development is a plus
  • Experience with Python or other programming languages for data processing.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).

Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration:
  • Manage and maintain Snowflake databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform database tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Implement and manage data security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular backups and recovery testing.
  • Monitor database health and performance, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Manage user access and permissions in accordance with company policies.
  • Development:
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines using Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Optimize and refactor existing SQL queries and data models for improved performance and scalability.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline database management and data integration tasks.
  • DevOps:
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake and related data services.
  • Automate deployment processes to ensure efficient and error-free releases.
  • Collaborate with the IT and development teams to integrate database changes into the overall DevOps workflow.
  • Monitor and improve the deployment process to enhance speed, reliability, and security.
  • Ensure that all database environments are consistent and properly configured across development, testing, and production.
  • Collaboration and Support:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide technical guidance.
  • Provide support and training to end-users and other team members on Snowflake best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, Snowflake updates, and best practices to continuously improve our data infrastructure.
