Description:

Purpose of the Job:
To lead and oversee the procurement operations, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum:

o Grade 12 with a Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Business Management.

  • Preferred:

o Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field.
o CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certification will be advantageous.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant procurement experience, ideally in the FMCG or Manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing procurement operations and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is required.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Management:
o Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including purchasing, tender administration, and vendor management.
o Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., BBBEE, OSH Act).
o Monitor and control procurement costs to align with departmental and organizational budgets.
2. Supplier and Vendor Management:
o Build and manage strategic supplier relationships to meet business objectives.
o Conduct vendor evaluations, oversee contract negotiations, and ensure alignment with the company’s BBBEE strategy.
o Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List, ensuring up-to-date supplier documentation and compliance with legislative requirements.
3. Financial and Risk Management:
o Implement controls to mitigate procurement risks and ensure financial accountability.
o Oversee purchase requisitions and purchase order management, verifying accuracy, delivery timelines, and price negotiations.
o Manage the reconciliation of invoices, purchase orders, and delivery notes, resolving discrepancies with Accounts Payable.
4. Inventory and Logistics:
o Ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained across all operational sites, minimizing disruptions to the supply chain.
o Oversee logistics, including the management of storage facilities and the timely delivery of goods.
o Liaise with internal teams to ensure the efficient flow of inventory and manage import processes when required.
5. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
o Enforce compliance with HSE policies in all procurement-related activities.
o Address workplace hazards and risks, ensuring the application of health and safety standards.
o Participate in Food Safety and HSE meetings, ensuring procurement practices support organizational HSE goals.
6. Reporting and Data Accuracy:
o Prepare monthly procurement reports, analyzing data on costs, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
o Maintain accurate procurement records and update databases for audit purposes.
7. Team Leadership and Development:
o Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement and execution within the department.
o Conduct internal procurement training and facilitate departmental collaboration.
