Description:

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a diploma in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Applied Social Studies in Social Care or foreign equivalent (validated by QQI)
  • Have at least six months post qualification experience of working with adults with an intellectual disability.
  • Must hold a full clean driving licence and be willing to drive company vehicle
  • Have the legal right to work in Ireland and currently hold valid work authorisation for Ireland
  • Be proficient in the English Language

Responsibilities:

  • To support the Person In Charge with all aspects of the effective running of the residential service.
  • To facilitate and implement a person-centered approach for the individuals we support appropriate to their wishes and goals
  • To promote and protect the rights of the individuals in a manner that respects their dignity, their right to make choices and their privacy
  • To actively seek new interests and opportunities for the individuals we support to develop meaningful roles in their communities
  • To ensure the overall wellbeing of the individuals we support in all areas of their lives including health and personal care
  • To assist in the teaching of life skills in cooking, budgeting, cleaning & building confidence
  • To drive the company vehicle
  • Have a knowledge of the HIQA regulations and standards
  • Experience of dealing with behaviours that challenge
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of behavioural support plans
  • MAPA experience or equivalent
  • Understanding and experience of therapeutic interventions
  • Experience of teaching skills in cooking, budgeting, cleaning & building confidence skills
  • Experience in alternative communications
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Experience of creative problem-solving techniques
  • Enthusiasm, energy and creativity
  • Have the ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet and responsible manner
  • Excellent IT and report writing skills
  • Be flexible to work a variety of rostered shifts over a seven-day work period
