Description:

Create Your Outstanding Future!
We are seeking a highly motivated, driven Sunderland Uni student - with the creative flair to manage and drive our social media engagement. This is an all-around creative and exciting job role, where you will be on the forefront, integrating with EDC’s vibrant campus life.
The College has previously employed some fantastic Sunderland Uni & Northumbria Uni students from degree course areas such as Business, Business & Marketing, Marketing Management, Media & Journalism and Fashion Communication.
As a social media intern, you will be responsible for organic social media presence, engagement and gaining visibility for the college’s brands amongst potential students, current students, employers, stakeholders and the community. You will be responsible for scheduling daily social media posts across all the main social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and Twitter) as well as posting relevant content on LinkedIn. You will be expected to proactively seek out fresh and creative content for use on social media by communicating with staff and students across the college sites. You will also get the opportunity to enhance your graphic design skills, using a range of Adobe suites including Photoshop, Premier Pro and InDesign to produce high quality content for social media and marketing materials (such as flyers, posters and point of sale).
The college has three unique campuses. The Peterlee Campus is a stunning £36m modern build; this will be your main base. However, you will also be expected to carry out tasks over at our stunning Houghall Campus, on the outskirts of the City of Durham. Our Houghall Campus is the leading provider of land-based courses in the region and includes a beautiful 475-acre estate. It has recently had a £13m redevelopment. You will also be required to get involved at our Technical Academy, in Peterlee, which is a 30,000 sq. ft. purpose-built facility providing training in a range of engineering and construction-related trades.
Please see attached Job Description & Person Spec for more details.
My year as Social Media Intern at East Durham College was easily the highlight of my university experience. Working in a small team meant the placement was tailored to me, fully utilising my strengths while pushing me to develop and overcome weaknesses in a completely supportive environment. There’s so much going on at EDC that you’ll very quickly find your place (and you’ll probably excel!) This isn’t a big scary firm you’re joining, it’s a tight-knit family. The relationships you build are easily the highlight. The welcoming staff body took me under their wing and working often one to one with my supervisor meant he always knew exactly how to push and challenge me in just the right way. The positivity and enthusiasm of this place is infectious, you’ll have the freedom to come up with ideas, and the backing to try them out! It may be cliche, but it’s really true that no two days are ever the same. You won’t want to leave EDC, but when you do, you’ll leave with a wealth of new experiences, having learned more about yourself and the world around you, and undoubtedly you’ll have had a year of fun. Seriously, just apply. You won’t regret it.
