Description:

Applicants are invited for the above permanent, full time post working in Communications and Brand Marketing. We are seeking a Social Media Officer to oversee the creation and delivery of diverse digital content across the University’s social media channels. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing engaging content and activities across sector-leading social media platforms, maximizing the opportunities offered by all digital channels. Additionally, it requires the active monitoring and engagement with our audiences across the University’s social media channels. The role also involves covering various University events, creating content for digital campaigns, and ensuring all digital content is of high quality and aligns with our brand.
The successful candidate will join the Communications team to generate new and engaging content tailored to our audiences, in line with our Social Media Strategy. We are looking for someone with proven experience in creating engaging social media content, and an excellent understanding of digital platforms. The ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential. Candidates should be educated to 2 AS Levels or 1 A level or NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject area.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential for this post.
This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Social Media
To develop engaging and effective social media content which balances the corporate and the quirky, the serious and the fun.
In addition, adapting content to ensure it is relevant to different audiences in particular ensuring that it has as positive and relevant an impact as possible.
To monitor and engage with audiences.
To grow social media audiences and their active engagement across all channels.
To monitor and report on social media reach and impact.
To stay up to date with the latest social media trends and new channels and which audiences are using what and how.
General
To network and build relationships internally and externally.
To work collaboratively and proactively with Communications, Brand, Marketing and Recruitment and the wider community to support and integrate with their work.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

Qualifications/Training
Essential:
2 AS Levels or 1 A level or NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject area.
Desirable:
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
Previous experience of successfully managing corporate social media channels within a large organisation which is customer facing.
Experience of creating highly creative and innovative content and seamlessly blending the corporate messages with more innovative content.
Experience of audience targeting and ensuring channels are relevant to all audiences.
Experience of using a wide variety of social media management and monitoring tools and of measuring and reporting on success.
Experience of successfully growing audience size, diversity and engagement.
Desirable:
Experience of managing social media and/or video production within higher education.
Experience of producing high quality and high impact video’s which are tailored to different channels.
Experience of video production via a range of facilities including camera, phone and applications such as Teams.
Experience of using video editing software and of editing, doing voice overs and adding subtitles to video content.
Experience of training and/or advising others on the use of social media.
