About the Role
We are seeking a Social Media Specialist, for a Full-time Max-Term (12 months maternity leave cover) opportunity based in THQ Blackburn, VIC with flexible working arrangements available.
Purpose of the Role:
Work with the Digital Campaigns, Engagement and Acquisition Manager to deploy the social media strategy for The Salvation Army (TSA) across all social media platforms, with a primary focus on supporting local corps and mission. Support performance marketing, corps and enterprise; integrating relevant content to support the mission.
Develop creative social media content and tactics to meet the broad needs of the organisation and provide resources for corps and local mission to share with their communities. Generate reports on the performance of developed content. Manage a regular content schedule for the Social Media Managers Group to keep the community engaged, educated and growing.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be successful in this role if you can:

Technical Support

  • Monitor social media industry developments and advise appropriate tactics and organic strategies to the Manager in response, including changes in the social media algorithms and channel behaviour, and competitor review.
  • Support on the copy writing, asset development, content briefs and tone of voice for all social media posts on TSA channels.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Support the manager through implementing strategies for the national brand as well as enterprise stakeholders when requested.
  • Work with other teams within the Communications department to support on social media strategy and developing content to showcase TSA and what we do across Australia.

Brand, Reputation and Risk Management:

  • Contribute to the overall effective utilisation of social media, including supporting the Manager with the oversight of social media channels and the monitoring and escalation of risks as required.
  • Ensure all assigned social media activities are developed and executed in accordance with legislation, TSA policy and values and applicable Codes of Practice under the directive of the Manager.
  • Assist with community management (monitoring, responding to comments and private messages) to ensure positive brand sentiment and engagement with our online community (when requested by the Manager)

Integrate both missional and fundraising campaign content in a way that is relevant and engaging for our communities.

Social Media Advice:

  • Connect corps and national social media strategies, providing social media advice, expertise and creative input.
  • Assist corps to ensure all content and information they provide is relevant, up to date and in line with TSA values.
  • Train and inform frontline personnel regarding how to effectively use social media.

Implementation Support:

  • Support the implementation of TSA’s organic social media strategy, utilising all channels as directed to drive positive brand sentiment, build and foster an engaged community of followers, and provide a space for the Australian public to engage with TSA.
  • Develop strategies to support community growth for both national audiences and local audiences.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Marketing/Communications (or related discipline)
  • At least two year’s experience in a similar role with responsibility for social media channels for a brand or organisation.
  • An understanding of marketing principles and ability to apply this in a social media environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong storytelling ability
  • Strong awareness of, and/or interest in, news and current affairs, especially across the Australian landscape.
  • Have a clear understanding for asset types and placements across all owned organic social channels.
  • Experience in writing and editing copy for organisations or brands.
  • Experience in developing, creating and maintaining content calendars.

Desirable skills:

  • Understanding of marketing and social media in a faith-based or charitable organisational environment is desirable
  • An understanding of social media creative best practice. Experience in visual asset development (image and/or video) is desirable.
  • Experience with Falcon or similar social media management and scheduling platforms is desirable.
  • Experience in boosting of organic content is desirable.
  • Community management experience is desirable but not required.

Requirements of the Role:

  • A national police record check and Working with Children’s check is required.
