Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Social Work Technician will support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of individual service plans for families, caregivers, and children/youth. This role involves providing training, skill development, and emotional support to parents and caregivers, while fostering positive family dynamics. The Social Work Technician will work closely with community agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive care and resources are available. Key responsibilities include observing and assessing family dynamics and risk factors within the home environment, conducting follow-up actions as necessary, and intervening in crisis situations when required. Additional related duties may be assigned based on the needs of the program.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from high school supplemented by completion of a Human Service Counsellor or Practitioner Program/Social Services Community Work Program or a BA in a social science such as Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required.
- Recent Criminal History Clearance and vulnerable sector clearance, as well as an SD Record Check (under the Family Services Act) prior to beginning work.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Crisis Intervention Training
- Experience working within Child Protection
