Job Description
The Acute Care Program is seeking a full-time, contract (until March 31, 2025) Social Worker 2 to work primarily in the Addiction Consult Service (ACS), which is a consultation service in the CAMH Emergency Department as a part of Concurrent Outpatient Medical Psychosocial Addiction Support Service (COMPASS). Reporting to the Manager of COMPASS, the incumbent will provide direct clinical care for clients who present to the CAMH Emergency Department and are experiencing addiction or concurrent disorder. Working closely with the ACS Physician, this role involves conducting assessments and referrals for clients, engagement with family members/community supports, providing case management services for clients, and discharge planning. The ACS Social Worker will have extensive knowledge of CAMH and community resources and be able to provide treatment planning and referral, within and external to CAMH. This role may also include the provision of individual or group based psychosocial treatment to clients in COMPASS. This role may also include time-limited, follow-up care for ACS patients who are admitted to inpatient units in the hospital.
The incumbent will be able to work with clients from diverse populations, and demonstrate a harm reduction, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach to care. The incumbent will also participate in: continuous quality improvement initiatives; the research and educational activities of the program; program development; service provider relationship-building; and capacity-building activities. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of Masters of Social Work students, collaborating with faculties of social work on special projects related to the development of the social work field, contributing to the development of best practices unique to the social work field and also teaching to other professionals. Other related duties may be assigned as required. Some evening and weekend hours are required. This position is located at 1051 Queen Street West and 100 Stokes Street.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Masters of Social Work degree and be registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, supported by three (3) years preferred of clinical experience with mental health/addiction setting. You must be eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment with faculties of Social Work that have affiliation agreements with CAMH in order to supervise social work students. Demonstrated experience in facilitating both individual and group treatment, discharge planning, conducting assessments, providing psychosocial support and psycho-education is required. Preference will be given to those who possess knowledge of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and the ability to apply principles of risk management. Candidates with sound knowledge and understanding of social work practice with the addictions/concurrent disorder client population are preferred. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds is required. You will also possess excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds is also required. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
