In line with our vision to provide a continuum of care to uplift those in need, our services span from preventive services, foster care and residential services to reunification support services for vulnerable children returning to their natural families after being removed due to safety concerns. We believe that every child is precious and unique and children grow best in families. We also believe in the potential of every child and family to transform and thrive.
Kids In Play is one of our key programmes and it aims to support and empower families and children who have a parent in prison. We provide professional support to address the impact of parental incarceration on children and caregivers, help to strengthen familial bonds and facilitate the reintegration of incarcerated persons with their families. Our vision is to build an inclusive society where families of incarcerated persons are embraced, thriving and empowered to be contributing members of society.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Social Work from a recognisable university
  • Accredited as Registered Social Worker with SASW.
  • At least 1-2 years in direct social work is preferred.
  • Experience in working with children and youths and their families

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Casework Management:

  • Register and orientate new families through the intake process, and provide information and referral services.
  • Provide casework and counselling services through home visits and prison visits as part of the intervention plan. This includes meeting children and their care-givers in their family contexts, and inmates inside prisons for the purpose of intervention work. Aftercare services are also to be rendered to inmates after release from prison with the purpose of reintegration and reunification with their children and families.
  • Able to utilize therapeutic approaches and intervention strategies in working with children, caregivers, parents, couples and families.

Volunteer Training:

  • Screen, recruit, train and develop volunteers for programmes as required.
  • Brief and de-brief volunteers regularly as part of training and equipping volunteers

Group Work:

  • Plan and facilitate group work sessions for children and youth.

Programme Planning:

  • Plan and execute programmes and activities for children, youth and families that are aligned with the vision and mission of the centre.
  • Conduct review and evaluation of programmes which serves as a resource for fine-tuning future runs of the programmes.

Community Work:

  • Collate and analyze needs of our target population of clients.
  • Assess and bridge the gap between stakeholders and beneficiaries.
