Description:

About the team we are recruiting to
At Coventry City Council, we are embarking on an incredible journey to create a brighter future for Coventry’s children. As a ‘Good’ Local Authority, we believe in pushing boundaries and delivering excellence for children and families. Our vision is clear, and our social workers are unwavering in their commitment to putting children and families at the centre of their practice.
We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.
Be part of our inspiring team, making a meaningful difference in the lives of Coventry’s children. Together, let’s create a nurturing environment where every child’s potential can flourish.
What is the job role?
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children in Care team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting children and young people in care, ensuring they have the opportunity to achieve permanency and stability in their lives. This includes working closely with families, carers, and other professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the individual needs of each child.
You will be required to have experience in progressing children through to permanency, including working on complex cases and making recommendations for various permanency options.
A thorough understanding of court processes and procedures is essential, as you will be expected to attend court hearings and provide high-quality reports. Your expertise in different types of permanency care planning, such as adoption, special guardianship, and long-term fostering, will be vital in achieving the best outcomes for the children we support.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled professional with a strong commitment to improving the lives of children in care. You should have a proven track record in child protection and care planning, with significant experience in managing cases that involve court proceedings. Your ability to work collaboratively and effectively with multi-agency partners, as well as your dedication to advocating for the best interests of children, will be crucial in this role.
If you are passionate about making a difference and aspirational in your approach to achieving better outcomes for children and young people, we would love to hear from you.
