We are seeking outstanding Social Workers to join our Family Support & Child Protection Service. The suitable candidate would have the professional and personal attributes to build relationships with our families and potential network and share our commitment to improving outcomes for all children and young people.

This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the JD/Person Specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with children and provide a clear and accurate assessment of the needs of the child and their family.
  • Devise, implement and review plans, including the development and management of child in need, protection plans within a child protection framework.
  • Ensure all statutory responsibilities are well managed, including visiting children, arranging reviews, and reporting to the court.
  • Carry out in-depth, ongoing evidence-based assessment of complex needs and risks to children.
