JOB DETAILS
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced social worker to join a well-established, experienced and supportive team who assess and support the needs of Children Affected by Disability across Fife.
You will be responsible for a range of assessments, including statutory, child protection, but predominantly Section 23 reports, to assess and respond to diverse need. You will work creatively to identify supports and services that will mitigate and lessen the impact of disability on children, young people and their families.
You will understand that many of our children and young people require lifelong support and share our passion to ensure good outcomes for young people as they transition into adulthood.
You will have a creative and flexible approach to promoting the needs of children who face the barriers of communication, health and social disadvantage, keeping children and young people at the centre of planning.
You are a team player who can work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary service and establish meaningful links within internal and external services.
When you are established in post, you will carry a caseload of 15 – 20 children, which may include a small proportion of statutory or child protection cases. Most of your caseload will involve Section 23 Children (Scotland) Act 1995 assessments, where you will assess and provide supports utilising Self-Directed Support processes and funding.
Whilst crisis is always a potential in Children and Families work, most tasks carried by workers in this team are of a planned and prepared nature.
We encourage workers to be creative and flexible in identifying and maximising resources and are looking to extend this with the provision of groupwork initiatives.
There is a clear supervisory structure in the team which includes a team manager and three senior practitioners, so there is robust support and experience available for social work staff.
