ABOUT YOU:
We are looking for a social worker with contemporary understanding of evidence based mental health practice, who brings a commitment to working in a way that is person centred and family inclusive. REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health Service, primarily based with the Lake Macquarie Team at Charlestown. This service is open during business hours.
This position is part of a multidisciplinary mental health team that supports consumers and their families by providing person centred, trauma informed mental health assessment and intervention. Clinicians are allocated a number of consumers to work with, this involves taking the lead in coordinating their care, alongside their GP and other support providers, and delivering interventions tailored to the consumers identified need. Throughout the week there are a number of clinical meetings where clinicians are able to talk about the consumers they are supporting and seek input from other members of the MDT.
The Social Worker will have access to regular clinical supervision, provided by Hunter New England Health, within work time. They will also be supported day to day by a Senior Social Worker, a Clinical Coordinator and the Team Manager. In addition to these supports the service is supported by a Service Manager and social workers within HNEMH are supported by the Head of Social Work.
Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service has a structure orientation for all new staff. We also facilitate weekly professional development sessions for staff. Other professional development opportunities are available depending on the learning needs/ areas of interest of the staff member.
