YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Social Work required
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW).
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical experience as a Masters prepared Social Worker working in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill using an anti-oppressive, harm reduction, evidence based treatment modality (i.e. CBT)
  • Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Children and Family Services Act, and the Criminal Code of Canada required.
  • Clinical experience in a community mental health/forensics setting preferred and experience in case management and working with youth preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of assessment and treatment with a variety of treatment modalities; knowledge and experience with DSM-V.
  • Comprehensive understanding of community based services and resources preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and excellent time management and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to function autonomously and within the inter-professional team.
  • Skills of collaboration, consultation, liaise and negotiation with clients/family, team members, justice service providers, schools, community support services, inpatient services, and other partners.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel, e-mail, etc.).
  • Must have a valid NS Drivers License, regular use of a reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance. Travel as required. Compensation is paid.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.
