About your opportunity
The Mental Health Service Group are currently seeking to recruit a Social Worker to their team on a Fixed Term Temporay basis ASAP up to 09.09.2025 with possibility of extension not exceeding 2 years. This position is located at the Kirwan Health Campus located in Townsville.
This position enables you to deliver social work services for consumers requiring Rehabilitation and Acquired Brain Injury Services, in accordance with professional standards and legislation consistent with the Mental Health Strategy for Queensland and the National Standards for Mental Health Services. As a social worker, you will work collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide clinical care and to create a therapeutic environment conducive to the dignity and wellbeing of consumers and carers within the Mental Health Service Group.

Generous remuneration package value up to $128,706 p.a. comprising:

• Salary range of $76,747 to $112,805 p.a. (HP3)
• Annual leave with 17.5% loading
• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

The Ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following

• Maintains positive relationships between staff members/consumers/carers and any other stakeholders of the service.
• Has an understanding of the Queensland Public Mental Health Services (QPMHS) Models of Service Delivery Framework and how these models guide mental health service delivery within a multidisciplinary team setting.
• Has the Ability to work independently, prioritise and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Social Work, as well as eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Proof of registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
• Highly Desirable:
• While not mandatory, status as an AASW accredited Mental Health Social Worker is highly regarded.
• Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be highly desirable.
• This position requires the incumbent to operate a class ‘C’ motor vehicle, and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
• 6 month probation period.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
