ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a fantastic career opportunity to join the team on an initial 6 month contract basis. However, there will be a strong chance of extension due to this work being within a very long running programme for the business.
The role will entail support, execution and automation of software deployments and configuration changes to a large mixed-OS estate. This can be broken down into regular and adhoc tasks which are detailed below:
- Maintenance and manipulation of system configuration files to over 2000 targets.
- Some of these contain up to 1500 plus parameter values which must be maintained and checked before deployment, involving scripting and reporting techniques.
- In addition to this there is a requirement to process and deploy some 30 plus types of customer supplied operational data files (ODF) to between 30 and 500 targets on a regular basis.
- Reporting to the Sustainment Service Desk Manager and LMSOC Technical Manager , The technical deployment specialist will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Working a flexible 37.5 hour week
- Maintain the I&T (Integration and Test) and production environment configuration and ensure it is distributed in a fault free and timely manner.
- Monitor and correlate events and data from mission-critical applications and services to preserve uptime.
- Supporting Developer effort within the Open Source Laboratory including raising software defects where appropriate
- Perform systematic analysis to determine any degradation in service.
- Perform as a point of contact for the execution of performance trials and associated validation.
- Liaise with external technical teams to verify and validate configuration files pre and post deployment.
- Create monthly, weekly and daily address directories from customer supplied data.
- Make complicated system modifications to enhance system performance.
- Distribute software as required in a repeatable and fault free manner using LM adopted software distribution management tools.
- Maintain and support server infrastructure to preserve and maintain SLAs
- Liaise with onsite technicians to ensure hardware and software builds are completed as agreed.
- Assist with managing the team’s incident, service request and change assignment queues across multiple toolsets.
- Produce ad hoc reports, tool and utilities as requested by the LM management team leads and other support teams.
- Update processes and procedures as required.
- Troubleshoot application and configuration errors when required.
- Advise first level support of any changes in system behaviour when new configuration is deployed.
- Liaise with the customer configuration team over issues experienced with received Data/Configuration files.
- Provide adhoc reports to colleagues and customers upon request
- Support an agile deployment framework to deliver sprint releases
- Provide out of hours support to rollout activities when required.
- Providing 3rd line on-call support if required.
- Liaise with in house integration teams to agree methods and routines for future software releases.
Contractor/Agency to be responsible for maintaining adequate liability insurance, certifications, accreditations, and training required to perform their tasks.
