The Integrated Corporate Services (ICS) is a new shared corporate service, launched in July 2023. It provides corporate services (HR, Finance, Digital, Commercial, Security and Estates) across the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) and the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT).

Do you want to use the latest technology to help government staff work more effectively and resiliently? Do you have the skills and experience to develop and maintain digital products and services using Microsoft 365 cloud platform? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Software Developer!
As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, deploying, and monitoring digital products and services that aim to improve the information and knowledge management of staff across DESNZ and DSIT. You will work with other teams such as designers, content creators, project managers, and information architects to ensure that our digital products and services meet user needs and business goals. You will also use your dev ops skills to automate and streamline the development process using Azure DevOps and or GitHub.
You will be part of the Digital Directorate, which is a cross-departmental team that provides digital solutions and services to support the delivery of DESNZ and DSIT’s objectives. We follow agile principles and practices to deliver high-quality products that meet user needs.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Past experience with Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft 365 SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure, Azure DevOps and Azure Active Directory.
  • Possess PowerShell skills, including development of ground-up scripting across M365 services.
  • Experience in SharePoint/Teams migration and migration planning.

Desirable criteria:

  • Demonstrate good presentation skills to address relevant stakeholders and technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Software Developer, you will be doing the following:

  • Writing clean, secure, and scalable code using one or more programming languages such as C#, TypeScript, PowerShell, etc.
  • Using Microsoft 365 cloud platform features such as Microsoft Graph, PowerPlatform, Teams, etc. to develop and maintain digital products and services.
  • Testing and debugging code using various tools and frameworks such as Visual Studio, Azure DevOps etc.
  • Deploying and monitoring digital products and services to Microsoft 365 cloud platform using tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure the development process is aligned with the design, content, and information architecture strategies.
  • Researching and learning new technologies, frameworks, and languages to improve the development process and deliver value to the customers.
