Location: This is a hybrid role with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days per week at our Ottawa, ON office located at 40 Hines Rd, Ottawa, ON K2K 2M5, Canada.
Position Summary:
As we continue to expand the teams of frontend developers and creating frontend experiences at scale, we are looking for a passionate junior frontend developer to help design and implement new micro-frontend web applications that deploy continuously to provide the best possible user experience to our customers.
The ASRM development team you will be joining is a highly collaborative, innovative, and diverse team passionate about building a well-designed and well-architected frontend experiences that delight our customers. You will help shape the future of our UI, and present the face of our current and next generation security innovations.

As a Software Developer on the ASRM team, in your day-to-day you will:

  • Work with feature team to deliver value to customer in timely and efficient manner
  • Work with your squad in short sprints or kanban to achieve regular business and customer outcomes
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code, and building reusable components and frontend libraries for shared use
  • Build and deploy micro-frontend web applications
  • Assist in test execution and identify UI problems and bugs with proposed solutions that align with business objectives
  • Participate in code reviews and ship code on a daily basis
  • Deliver incremental improvements or features to production multiple times a day using Jenkins and Code Pipeline
  • Write non-application code, such as infrastructure as code, unit tests, end-to-end UI automation tests, monitoring, alarms etc.
  • Own and operate your team’s services, respond to business-hours incidents, and participate in blameless post-incident reviews
  • Take time for learning and continuous improvement, with opportunities to learn and teach skills across teams

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about web technology, with an interest in developing micro-frontends using microservices. It is fine if you do not have experience, with the right attitude and aptitude, you will be able to succeed
  • Cares about what you do and writes code that implements reusable components emphasizing design consistency, usability, and accessibility
  • Is always looking for opportunities to grow and improve
  • Is focused on results with ‘own it’ mentality – excited to transform ideas into pragmatic code and take ownership of a task with guidance from more experienced developers

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Web Platform technologies such as browser APIs, HTML, modern CSS with PostCSS and use of programming languages such as JavaScript with Babel (ES6+/ECMAScript 2015+) or TypeScript
  • Experience with React and its library ecosystem
  • Experience with at least one of the modern frontend developer tooling ecosystem and their usage (i.e. Linters, Bundlers like Webpack)
  • Experience with Test-driven approach of developing JavaScript web application using Jest and React Testing Library along with end-to-end test automation frameworks like Cypress or puppeteer
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, managing uncertainties, and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies and ability to get up to speed quickly
  • Familiarity with modern web frameworks like NextJS, Vue, or Web Components
  • Knowledge of AWS Services (S3, CloudFront etc) & other Serverless concepts, or equivalent on other cloud providers
  • Knowledge or experience with localization and internationalization requirement for frontend development
  • Knowledge or experience troubleshooting compatibility and accessibility issues
  • Knowledge or experience with analytics such as Google Analytics, Pendo etc
  • Knowledge or experience with yarn, npm package managers and has awareness of containerization technology (Docker)
  • Knowledge or experience with automated Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and/or AWS Code Pipeline
