SOFTWARE ENGINEER - BOT MANAGEMENT AND ANTI-FRAUD

The Fastly Security Products Engineering develops and operates next generation security capabilities in the Fastly platform.
We’re looking for a software engineer to develop and maintain our bot management products. You’ll work closely with other software engineers, product managers, and data scientists to implement new features and address real-world bot attacks and help ensure our security products and systems are robust, scalable, and secure along the way.
The software you develop will power existing and future bot management and anti-fraud products. As part of the Security Products team, you will help us shape patterns, standards, and methodologies for the engineering team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 2 years hands-on, professional experience developing production software in either Rust or Go and some familiarity with the other
  • Desire and capability to learn and apply additional programming languages
  • Experience developing tests and test automation
  • Experience using and improving modern software development infrastructure (development environments, CI, testing, deployment)
  • Good understanding of service-oriented architectures, microservices, and design patterns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A great teammate with distributed team experience: communicative, collaborative, empathetic

Preferred locations for this position are:

  • London (Hybrid)

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. We do not support relocation.
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain code in multiple programming languages (primarily Rust, Go)
  • Improve software development infrastructure used for development, testing and deployment of production systems
  • Collaborate with software engineers, security operations staff, and data scientists to develop solutions to bot management problems
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable code
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues with production code
  • Collaborate with your teammates through code, design reviews and make data-driven decisions
  • Participate in on-call rotation
