Description:
Pexip is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Engineering organisation. As a member of our team, you will be working alongside engineers based in both the UK, Norway, and further afield.
We have a hybrid work environment within Pexip to encourage a better work life balance. You will be working as part of a core team which is geographically distributed, so you should be comfortable working closely alongside remote colleagues. The ideal candidate should be located within easy reach of either our UK (Reading) or Norway (Oslo) R&D base for regular in-person meet-ups and working cross-functionally with other development teams.
Responsibilities:
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In the role of Software Engineer you will be part of the team who are working on Pexip’s next-generation meeting platform. You will be responsible for working with the rest of the team to deliver and operate a video-platform-as-a-service in a secure, reliable and scalable manner.
Above all we’re looking for a software engineer who is not afraid to get their hands dirty, thrives in the face of demanding challenges, and enjoys being at the forefront of innovative work that impacts hundreds of thousands of users across enterprises worldwide.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU ARE LIKELY TO HAVE EXPERIENCE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Developing and maintaining high-quality software in a production environment
- Using Go and/or Python, as these are our main languages. However, we will consider experience with other languages too
- Deploying software into a Kubernetes environment and managing the lifecycle of deployed components
- Working with cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
- Designing, developing and maintaining distributed software systems
- Strong software and systems design skills, including familiarity with design patterns and anti-patterns
- Diligent software testing (unit, module, system, regression)
- Solid understanding of network protocols and programming (TCP, UDP, TLS, HTTP)
- Familiarity in profiling and optimisation of services
- Great written and spoken English, including the ability to learn about and discuss complex architectures with other developers
Experience in all the above areas is preferred but not required; we value passion, adaptability, and a willingness to learn above all else.
