Description:

The Company
Evonetix is a start-up biotech company based in a state-of-the-art facility in central Cambridge with the mission to revolutionise gene synthesis and accelerate the exciting field of synthetic biology.
The company’s technology is based on a novel silicon array, manufactured with semiconductor microfabrication techniques that enable independent control of numerous miniaturised reaction sites, allowing massive parallelism of the DNA synthesis process and assembly on-chip, in an innovative way.
The Evonetix community comprises a talented multidisciplinary team of professionals, including synthetic and surface chemists, physicists, biologists, and engineers.
The Position
Our novel approach to DNA synthesis and assembly is set to revolutionise what is possible with a desktop gene synthesiser. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment to develop methods and software tools to complement the understanding of our experimental data sets.
The candidate we are looking for will gather internal user requirements, research and develop bioinformatics algorithms, write code in various languages (particularly Python and Bash) to add value in the form of user serving software. The candidate will also build, automate and improve data analysis pipelines, get product/process development insights and aid in the data analyses of experimental data including NGS. The candidate would be responsible for communicating insights with different stakeholders to enable strategic decision making. In addition, the candidate would support and have the opportunity to expand into other software activities within the business.
To this end, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of bioinformatics / data science, be experienced in Python programming, and be capable of identifying, researching and collaborating on algorithmic approaches and data analysis. The candidate must have a passion to learn and broaden their knowledge.
This is a unique opportunity to join early in the product lifecycle to help shape the direction of our data science and experimental activities, and to work on the development of a unique third-generation gene synthesis platform.
This role is for on-site working. Part time working will be considered.
