Position Summary
The EDI specialist, working with the Director, Client & Data services and the EDI team is responsible for providing direction, developments and support of the Electronic Data Interchange environment with Farrow. They will lead various EDI projects by collaborating with vendors, customers and Farrows Operations and IT team members to design and develop EDI solutions to support business strategies, and to ensure proper system integrations and operation. The EDI Specialist will possess a strong working knowledge and technical expertise in EDI concepts and tools which, combined with related project management and business aptitude, will result in best-in-class EDI solutions.

Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)

  • Test, implement and maintain EDI transaction and file problems
  • Develop and maintain trading partner definitions to include relevant translation objects using EDI translation software tools
  • Handle communications with trading partners for EDI transaction set-up and ongoing maintenance
  • Coordinate between trading partners and networks to ensure mapping compliance
  • Develop new business opportunities utilizing EDI
  • Resolve technical mapping variations or gaps
  • Troubleshoot issues
  • Develop guidelines, checklists, procedures and training documentation
  • Communicate at the appropriate level with team members, management and end users
  • Interact with clients, vendors, and internal users in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Monitor the daily processing of EDI transactions

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in computer studies or related field of study
  • Minimum 3 years in development and support experience
  • Knowledge of databases and tables, with some understanding of mapping and supporting EDI, ANSI, X12 and EDIFACT standards as well as XML and flat file schemas
  • Programming Skills in JAVA/RPG/PYTHON
  • Working knowledge of AS2, FTP/sFTP protocols and Value Added Networks
  • Set up and management of trading partner profiles
  • EDI operations support experience
  • Experience with commercial EDI software tools, preferably Altova Mapforce
  • Working knowledge of AS400 operation systems, UNIX and LINUX
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure would be an asset
  • Experience with US Blujay would be an asset
