Description:
QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:
- Comfortable working with C, C++, python and/or Linux
- Some experience coding in an embedded environment
- Security focused mindset or exposure to crypto algorithms and their implementation
- Familiar with multi-threaded and object oriented development
- Familiar with the basics of asymmetric and symmetric encryption
MINIMUM PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be on a career break of one or more year at time of application
- Have prior experience in functional area of interest
- Have interest in returning in either a full-time or part-time position

At the forefront of innovation, our Crypto team within the Secure Mission Solutions directorate is pioneering advanced embedded cryptographic capabilities for U.S. military communications products. Collaborating closely with the NSA, we ensure that our military communications are not only secure but also trustworthy.
As a vital member of our dynamic team, you’ll work hand-in-hand with experts across hardware, FPGA, systems and software disciplines, seamlessly integrating groundbreaking technology into a diverse array of products.
We are seeking a Software Engineer II who is ready to dive into the design, development, integration, and verification of our embedded encryption algorithms. If you’re proficient in C++, Python, and embedded Linux, you’ll hit the ground running and contribute to our mission of safeguarding communications.
While knowledge of secure systems, secure software development, or crypto applications is preferred, it’s not a deal-breaker. Experience in an Agile environment is also a plus!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Develop and Integrate Software: Work on a multi-threaded embedded C++ product codebase that is at the forefront of technology.
- Design Embedded Solutions: Support designing and developing cutting-edge embedded cryptographic solutions and communications products.
- Engage in Project Activities: Collaborate with project teams on requirements specification, software implementation, test case development, verification test execution, and certification support.
- Impact Security and Reliability: Contribute to products that directly enhance the security and reliability of critical communications.
