Description:
BECOME A PART OF OUR CARING COMMUNITY AND HELP US PUT HEALTH FIRST
The Software Engineer II codes software applications based on business requirements. The Software Engineer II work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our development team!
Responsibilities will include regular pair programming sessions and code reviews of medium scale work, thoroughly testing and clearly documenting code, and explaining details of the work. The candidate must understand the concepts of normalized relational data structures, write and maintain modular code for automation, including SQL stored procedures and ETLs, in accordance with best practices, and develop an understanding of the team’s underlying technology stack.
Because the needs of our business segment change frequently, assignments are varied and often require interpretation. This position requires developing a solid general knowledge of the business, including how operations work and primary points of contact. The ideal candidate would leverage subject matter experts and other resources to learn the business, and actually look forward to working in the face of ambiguity to solve business problems. We can teach a successful candidate a new technology stack, if necessary, but we need someone who will take the initiative to dive deep into data to answer questions for customers.
The Software Engineer II:
- Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software.
- Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes.
- Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues.
- Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.
- Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.
- Follows established guidelines/procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of demonstrated software development experience or equivalent education
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Procedural language for automation - python preferred
- SQL query development, ETL support
- Ability to develop modular, reusable code and tools
- Ability to work in office 1-2 days per week (local candidates preferred)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Open-source contributions
- Experience in healthcare, insurance or risk adjustment
